In addition to our Registered Longhorns we also carry commercial beef cattle. I keep a small closed herd of Hereford and Black Baldy cows year round. Most of the herd consists of daughters, grand- and great-grand daughters of the Herefords we started with! These are kept mostly for my personal enjoyment. I regularly have a couple grain fed steers in the pen or a beautiful set of replacement heifers to sell. Let me know if you may be looking for either!
For the past several years, we have brought in bred cows and/or cow-calf pairs (after harvest in the fall) to recondition and re-sell in the spring. Typically we carry 200+ head - D.L. likes to keep our farmland productive 12 months of the year, not just during farming season! It is also the time when my job really begins - I have gotten lots of experience in doctoring sick cattle, pulling calves and ensuring those calves get off to a good start.
